DAY 15/138 Sunrise: 7:01 AM Sunset: 5:47 PM
Today we entered Cabo San Lucas, MX which is located at the tip of the 775-mile Baja Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez. Cabo- as it is commonly known- is one of Mexico's top destinations for its long beaches, resorts, scuba diving and picturesque coast. Renowned for the spectacular rock formations that line its shores, this bustling playground boasts one of the region's most scenic harbors. The sleepier side of this resort town lies in San Jose Del Cabo, sister to Cabo San Lucas. Its charming pink church, inviting town square and low adobe homes evoke an old colonial flair. A Spanish mission here, founded in 1730, replenished galleons making their way farther west to the Philippines.
Here is the pilot boat to guide us in to the harbor where we anchored, waiting for the tenders to take us into Cabo.
Beautiful scenery greeting us on our way into the harbor .
We walked along this street full of vendors selling hats, jewelry, tours, and bars like Senor Frogg on our way to the bus that would take us on our tour to San Jose del Cabo.
The bus drove us along the coastline past multiple resort condo's where prices start in the low millions USD.
We disembarked near a picturesque plaza in San Jose. We were to be on our own for the next hour exploring all of the wonderful old buildings where shopping opportunities were abundant.
Clock tower in the local municipal building.
Loved this bench and would love to have one just like it.
Mission de San Jose del Cabo Anuiti; I tried to get the entire sign into the photo but there were a lot of people on the sidewalk obscuring my view.
Entry door to the church.
Nativity scene at the alter of the church.
Can you tell that I loved these metal sculptures. The artist was located nearby and I'm sure he could have arranged to have them all shipped home. Unfortunately I didn't learn the price.
Can you tell I like manhole covers?
Street scene
Yachts, yachts, and more yachts.
Beautiful Cabo at Sunset.
What I didn't get a photo of was the two Walmarts and one Costco that we drove by. Lots of very nice shopping centers and medical centers.
Overall our impression of Cabo was that it is the consequence of combining billions of dollars of beautiful real estate with the beautiful Sea of Cortez. Fun place to visit.
